Android 12 arrives for Google Pixel devices | Download and rollout

Finally the first release of Android 12 began its rollout. In line with the calendar we saw a few days ago, Google has released the update. Currently, the lucky owners of a device pixel (the models we will see below) that are part of the branch developer they can immediately start enjoying the first news. But there are some recommendations to make: preview builds may not have all the new software features that will be associated with the new Android version. Poco bad, as long as there is some news.

Here's how to proceed with the download of Android 12 Developer Preview, but beware: it's not an update for everyone but only for developers!

As usual, Google has released a change log focused on developers with its announcement. While much of this has to do with things like APIs, activities, and services, there are some very interesting points they tell us as Android 12 will modify the existing interface:

  • notifications: Based on changes to Android 11, Google claims to offer a notification design "more modern, easier to use and more functional“, Plus improved animations and transitions. These will also be faster in their display
  • multimedia content- A new unified API allows you to extract content from the clipboard with the keyboard or even simply drag and drop. In short, users can move content such as photos or videos between apps even more easily than before
  • feedback related to audio: in a similar way to what Xiaomi did with MIUI 12.5 (hardware + software level) Android 12 will allow haptic feedback strictly linked to the audio of the smartphone
  • gesture: it has not been communicated that much but it seems that the gestures system has been improved a lot and will allow the user to do many more actions
  • HEVC: the new operating system will allow apps (even if they don't support it) to use the new code by immediately converting between HEVC and AVC

Release ladder

The first three builds of Android 12 will start from February to April and are clearly classified as exclusive previews for developers.

  • developer preview 1- Basic initial build focused on developer feedback, with new features, APIs and behavior changes
  • developer preview 2: Incremental update with additional features, API and behavior changes
  • developer preview 3: incremental update for stability and performance

In May, the beta version of will be available as OTA for publicly. Google is adding an extra beta this year which will arrive in August, but it hasn't been said what it is. Below is the screenshot for i release times.
