Google for inclusion: Android 13 revolutionizes use for the blind

With Android 13 Google is trying to revolutionize the way to use the smartphone. Specifically, the use for the visually impaired is very important. In fact, there are many users of this type and often using only the voice assistant (which, for heaven's sake, is an exceptional tool) is complicated. For this the next version of the operating system will introduce the native braille support. Let's go see the news in detail.

Android 13 will natively support braille. Google has decided to take this step because a large chunk of users need it

This Thursday Google announced that the next version of its mobile operating system Android 13 will have native support for braille displays. Coe? Via the Talkback screen reader, eliminating the need to download an application to do everything. In this way the user will continue to access many of the features present in the apps directly on the system, including the display buttons to navigate the screen and perform tasks such as typing emails and text messages.

According to Google, Talkback will still receive new shortcuts to optimize usage. The company has promised to make it easy to move from line to line, to the next character or word, go to the end of a document, select, copy and paste text, and more. We remind you that currently, to use the braille display connected to an Android device it is necessary to download the app BrailleBack. The novelty had already been suggested by the Mountain View company during the 2022 edition of Google I / O, held last week, during which they were presented Pixel 7, 7 Pro and the first tablet from Google.

Nimer Jaber, Google's accessibility analyst said:

This is only the first step in developing this integration and we look forward to doing even more to expand the functionality and create more related functionality.

Finally, Google highlighted that users of the operating system will be able to have early access to what's new in Talkback already in the next beta version of Android 13, scheduled for release in the coming weeks.
