Like every month, the famous benchmarking platform AnTuTu has just released the list with the best performing smartphones on the market.

AnTuTu releases the rankings of May: here are the best performing smartphones

Statistics for this period range from May 1 to May 31, 2021. The results in the list are the calculated average scores instead of the highest scores, and the statistics of a single model are greater than 1000. If a single model has multiple versions of memory , the highest scoring version is the one shown.

The ranking shows us that the first smartphone in the flagship category is the Black Shark 4 Pro gaming phone, with an average score of 830022. The smartphone is ranked first for three months, a fairly rare fact and which confirms it as the best device with the Snapdragon 888 on board.

The CPU and 3D performance of the Black Shark 4 Pro are average, and even the CPU performance is not on par with some models that focus on heat dissipation, indicating that the reason for the lead isn't actually the Snapdragon 888. The only thing that widened the gap is MEM performance, hence memory speed.

Compared to other devices, the biggest change of the Black Shark 4 Pro is its storage technology with a combination of SSD in raid and UFS 3.1 flash memory, storage read and write operations are performed in parallel. This approach favors app installation speed, game loading speed, launch speed, and outstanding performance for the MEM section of the test.

In second place we find the Red Magic 6 Pro, with an average score of 829.900, which is almost the same as the Black Shark 4 Pro.

Although the smartphone doesn't have an SSD like the Black Shark, the two scores are similar. The Red Magic 6 Pro comes with a small fan and at the same time, the body design and internal structure are both customized to function as internal air ducts with vents on the side of the fuselage.

This is precisely why the 3D and CPU performance of the Red Magic 6 Pro is very high. With the help of the fan, the Snapdragon 888 manages to spin at maximum, along with the 16GB RAM memory and the virtual memory expansion technology Ram Boost.

The model in third place is the OnePlus 9 Pro, finally a so-called normal smartphone. Compared to the two previous models, the average score is 828748. This device is the biggest change in OnePlus history. It's not just a hardware upgrade, but there has also been internal innovation with ColorOS for OnePlus at least in China.

The other models on the list are Snapdragon 888-equipped models as well. Overall, there isn't much of a difference. As for the current Android performance, in addition to overclocking the highest running score is around 810.000.

Then we have the mid-range ranking which after several months finally sees a change at the top.

As we observe in the ranking above, in the first place we now find the new Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G with an average score of 530.646, which makes mid-range smartphones make a qualitative leap up to 500.000 points.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G, made with 5nm technology, and the architecture is also updated to 1 + 3 + 4. The CPU integrates A78 cores thanks to which it manages to dominate the mid-range. That said, the Mi 11 Lite 5G will still rejoice for poco given that next month the Redmi Note 10 Pro will enter the rankings with its Dimensity 1100 which will certainly take it to the top of the rankings.

Second place belongs to the Redmi 10X equipped with Dimensity 820, with an average score of 455473. This smartphone has been the leader in mid-range performance to date. The third model is the iQOO Z3 equipped with Snapdragon 768G.

In conclusion, looking at the overall performance of Android smartphones in May, the Black Shark and Red Magic gaming phones took the lead with a new approach. Other Snapdragon 888 models substantially improve performance through system resource planning and heat dissipation.
