AnTuTu: These are the best performing smartphones of the last month

October has now become the month in which flagship smartphones are released for the second half of the year. These will include the iPhone 12 series, Huawei Mate 40 series, OnePlus 8T, and many more models to be unveiled as planned this month.

AnTuTu: These are the best performing smartphones of the last month

The top versions of the iPhone 12 and Huawei Mate 40 will both be equipped with an SoC built with a 5nm manufacturing process, opening the curtain to the new generation of low-power processors.

Soon after, Samsung Exynos and Qualcomm Snapdragon will unveil their flagship SoCs, which are also built using a 5nm process to further improve the energy efficiency ratio.

In any case, let's go to the reason why you are here, which is AnTuTu's ranking of Android smartphones for the month of September. Devices that as we know adopt CPUs with a 7nm manufacturing process.

As always, the statistics for this period range from September 30st to September 2020th 8. The results in the list are the calculated average scores (not the highest scores) and the statistics are those for models tested over a thousand times and running AnTuTu at version VXNUMX.

Well, the first two places in AnTutu's performance rankings go to the iQOO 5 series, both in 12GB + 256GB versions and both equipped with Snapdragon 865 processors. After more than six months of optimization and fixes, we have therefore reached the maximum of performance for this SoC.

The rest of the specs are also top-notch with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal memory, coupled with Multi-Turbo 4.0 software. In terms of performance, the iQOO 5 series is truly worthy of their slogan “Born to perform”. As for the various results in the tests, it was found that the CPU and 3D performance of the two are significantly higher than the regular Snapdragon 865 models. So it is very likely that aside from the software optimization, the series also has a certain degree of GPU overclocking.

In fact, it has now become common practice in the industry to increase the CPU frequency while running a specific program. The specific frequency depends on each company's adjustment method, which tests the heat dissipation capacity of their smartphone. That is, the better the heat dissipation, the more stable the high frequency operation is as well. After all, overclocking will inevitably lead to high temperatures. For example, the iQOO 5 series immediately after the test had a surface with a temperature that exceeded 70 degrees centigrade, so definitely warm.

In any case, after the iQOO 5 series we find it Xiaomi Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition (known globally as Mi 10 Ultra), which the previous month dominated the ranking. In this case we find the 16GB / 512GB version. That said, even though the memory is the highest in the top ten models, the execution score is still slightly lower than the iQOO 5 series. The secondary scores confirm that although the MEM score is great, the CPU and 3D scores are not. as good as those of smartphones in the first two positions.

Compared to the iQOO 5 series, the Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition appears to be somewhat more optimized on power consumption, and does not blindly pursue high performance. However, these are not substantial differences.

Following, from the fourth position onwards we find the Vivo X50 Pro +, the Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone Pro, the ASUS ROG 3, the Black Shark 3S, OPPO Find X2 Pro, OPPO Find X2, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.

These include two Snapdragon 865 Plus-equipped models, namely the Lenovo Legion Gaming Phone Pro and the ASUS ROG 3, with average scores of 625721 and 622234 respectively. This raises some questions as to whether the Snapdragon 865 Plus fails. to beat the regular version. Perhaps betting everything on the most performing hardware on paper is not much use if not assisted with level software? We could also say that perhaps all these super advanced cooling systems present on gaming phones are perhaps not as effective as we are promised during their presentation.
