Qualcomm had planned his personal idea of Nintendo Switch, that is, a portable console but with self-produced hardware. According to what was revealed, the device in question is a Developer Kit (which therefore we do not know if it will arrive on the market soon) is powered by the processor snapdragon g3x. It's the first time we've heard of Snapdragon G3x, but the name is reminiscent of the next SoC for smartphones Snapdragon 8 Gen1. The key specifications of the console
The device offers a 120Hz OLED HDR display and has a great battery from 6000 mAh. Judging by the slides the source got, Qualcomm's "Nintendo Switch" will be advertised as a game streaming device, which will support Xbox Game Cloud, streaming from the local console or even a PC.
But in addition to this information about the proprietary console, the source reveals some more details about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor that Xiaomi 12 will integrate.
Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will be the 20% faster and 30% more efficient from the energy point of view compared to the current flagship SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The 8 Gen1 will be produced using the technology of process to 4 nm and will have a fourth generation Adreno GPU. Qualcomm estimates 30% higher GPU performance and 25% energy savings thanks to its new architecture. Interestingly, in Vulkan GPU should be 60% faster.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is powered by the Qualcomm AI-Engine of the seventh generation with four times the performance of its predecessor. We will then find a new image processor (ISP), 18-bit. Thanks to him, a smartphone with this SoC can simultaneously record 8K HDR video and take pictures from a camera with a 64 megapixel sensor. The ISP can handle 3.2 gigapixels per second or take 240 12-megapixel photos per second.
