The number of games and applications in general on the Google Play Store is measured in the millions, but many of them are outdated or haven't been updated for a long time. The company is committed to solve the problem in a very radical way, announcing the removal of all "hackers" from the app store search starting this fall. Google's new policies will come into effect on 1 November 2022.

After this date, apps that have a two-year API level or more will be hidden from the app store search engine. According to the company, software that hasn't been updated in a long time or is designed for an older version of Android will have security flaws. To avoid "penalties", developers will have to update applications on the Play Store in a timely manner, focusing on minimum level of API that will increase with each new release of the operating system. Otherwise, smartphone owners simply won't be able to download apps from the store, even knowing their exact name.
Android 13 will be introduced this fall, so only apps designed for Android 10 and above will meet the new requirements. Note that this novelty it will only affect users who have never installed outdated programs. Technically they will remain on Google Play and will be available for new download on those devices where they have already been used.
