PC market on the rise: leading the industry is Lenovo

Data relating to PC deliveries occurred in the third quarter of 2021, published by IDC, show an increase over the same period last year. According to the numbers released by the analysis company, in the third quarter of 2021 they were delivered 86,7 million units, including desktops, notebooks and workstations, or 3,9% more than in 2020. Let's find out more details.

Lenovo is the leading brand, but Dell's result stands out

Despite the supply problems, the data are comforting for the whole market. The aforementioned numbers represent a confirmation: it is in fact the sixth consecutive positive quarter, certainly favored by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to a surge in demand, but also to the shortage of hardware components.

Obviously there will now be a decline, largely caused by students returning to schools. Notably, chromebook deliveries fell by 17%. At the enterprise level, more desktop PCs were purchased, mostly due to the shortage of semiconductors, which slowed notebook deliveries.

Anyway, Lenovo continues to be in the first place of world producers. Following, in the top 5, HP, Dell, Apple and Acer and ASUS with equal merit. Among the most relevant growths, that of Dell: the American company increased deliveries by 26,6%. The only negative result was that of HP, which recorded a -5,8%, due to the lower number of chromebooks sold in the US.
