The smartphone market is recovering, albeit the chip crisis continues stronger than ever. The shortage of semiconductors led to a sudden slowdown earlier this year so much that many companies have increased the prices. The latest in order is realme, which has increased not poco, in India, the prices of their smartphones. But what are the predictions? An analysis IDC yesterday points out that the market is growing this year (not that much though), but next year it will drop drastically.

According to analysts, this year the smartphone market will grow by 7.4%. In total, 1.37 billion devices will be shipped in one year. Growth will continue next year but will slow down and will be 3.4%. By distinguishing the two segments by the operating system used, analysts note that growth rates in these segments will vary greatly. In particular, the sales of iOS devices are expected to grow by 13.8% during the year, while device sales Android should only grow 6.2%.
The main growth engine is the introduction of 5G. Both suppliers and OEMs focus on promoting next generation network models as they have a higher average selling price (APS) compared to 4G devices. The ASP of a 5G smartphone is expected to be $ 634 this year, almost unchanged from last year's $ 632, while prices for 4G devices continue to drop.
The ASP of 4G smartphones will drop to $ 206 this year, nearly 30% lower than last year's $ 277. In terms of quantity, 570 million 5G smartphones are expected to be sold in one year, up by 123.4% compared to last year. As a result, the share of 5G devices in total sales will increase significantly.
Optimistic forecasts for this year, therefore, but not rosy for the next.
