iQOO: New video shows us the 120W charging in action

Vivo's sub-brand, iQOO, has just shown the world its latest fast charging system capable of reaching 120 Watts.

iQOO: New video shows us the 120W charging in action

At the demonstration of iQOO it was also noticed something interesting, that is that it is faster than the system of 125W fast charge by Oppor. In particular, when charging a 4.000mAh battery, it only takes 15 minutes to reach 100% while the Oppo smartphone takes 20 minutes.

This is most likely due to the fact that iQOO uses a slightly different configuration. The charger emits 20 V at 6 A, then two charging propagators inside the smartphone convert these into two 5 V 12 A currents (these propagators are slightly more efficient at 98,5%). The Oppo system uses three charging propagators to convert 20V 6.25A from the adapter to 10V 12.5A.

So, as we can see, the two brands have taken very different approaches to achieve the same goal. We can also take a look at the 120 W system in action in the video above.

iQOO 120W

iQOO says it will present its first smartphone with 120W charging stand in August. Could it be the iQOO 3 Pro? The device would have just been listed on the 3C Chinese certification site, but it only showed a 55W recharge. So we are probably dealing with a different model (or at least a Pro + version of the same).

Finally, the leakster Digital Chat Station published the image just above, claiming that it is the 120 W smartphone in question (it is clearly an initial rendering rather than a finalized design).
