Official: goodbye LG smartphone section, it was good while it lasted

LG has officially left the smartphone sector, the one that for years made her famous but that did not withstand the blow of the crisis (could it have been a crisis?). They were the early January when for the first time we learned of the possible farewell of the Korean brand. These were indiscretions, immediately withdrawn from The Lec source, but which turned out to be true. The announcement came after the board approved a "strategic decision".

LG officially announces that his figure will no longer be within the global smartphone landscape: the withdrawal by the end of July

Within the official statement, LG said that moving away from the mobile phone business would allow focus on other areas such as electric vehicle components, connected devices, smart homes, robotics, artificial intelligence and business solutions, platforms and services. Although the company will no longer produce new smartphones, the company will continue to provide support and software updates to existing customers for a certain "period of time" which will vary by region.

As a reminder, LG Germany confirmed last month that will release an update of the Android 11 operating system for phones like Velvet 4G, Velvet 5G, G8X, G8S, LG Wing, K52 and K42.

Existing smartphones will also continue to be sold, but the company plans to phase out its mobile phone business by the 31 July. Until then, he will work with suppliers and business partners to close the mobile phone division. The South Korean company plans to use its experience in the mobile device industry and related technologies such as the 6G in other companies.

The decision came after other companies' takeover attempts failed. in any case we will continue to see the company name on other devices such as monitors and televisions. Its ecological policy which has brought it a will not fail important award in the last period.
