The experts of the Canadian McGill University issued the results of a study on the dependence of users on smartphones in different countries. The rating compiled by analysts includes 24 regions around the world. The first row in the list of “smartphone dependent” countries is occupied by China, the second and third from Saudi Arabia e Malaysia. To complete the top 5 there are Brazil e South Korea, while United States e Germany they are respectively in 18th and 24th place.

The Chinese smartphone market is now considered the largest in the world, with beyond 1.5 billion devices sold in the country only in 2021. The number of active users in Saudi Arabia is estimated at 21 million people and the most popular brands in the region are Apple, Huawei and Samsung. In Malaysia, users prefer Huawei and Samsung devices. The same brand is also popular in Brazil, although Motorola, Huawei and Apple smartphones are also listed there.

Despite a series of regulatory restrictions, as well as the lack of access to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, Snapchat, and other popular sites, the Iranian users ranked sixth in terms of smartphone addiction. The list was compiled using data from a survey of approx 35.000 people between 2014 and 2020. The study involved young people whose average age was 28.8 years.

Italy is smartphone addicted? It seems to be average, in eleventh position. Unfortunately or fortunately, the data is still at 2020, the year in which the pandemic. We expect our position to have increased over the past two years. We are heartened by the fact that other countries have also been hit by the same scourge: with us, they too are increasing in position.
