MediaTek reaches 4nm before Qualcomm: here are the first buyers of the SoC

MediaTek for years it has been chasing Qualcomm relentlessly and catching up with it. The chip crisis does not seem to scare the Taiwanese giant which, according to latest reports is about to finish the production of his first 4nm processor. This is undoubtedly a flagship SoC. Recall that the 4nm lithographic process is the more performing than ever at the moment (not yet, but we're almost there). And what will be the companies that will buy this SoC from the processor giant? The names are already known.

MediaTek came before Qualcomm in building 4nm processors. The brands that will use it are also known: Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo

MediaTek will be among the first companies to order from TSMC, a well-known Taiwanese manufacturer, 4nm chips. This is a huge step forward compared to the rumors that spoke of a 5nm SoC. But what does it mean that a SoC is 4nm? In short: the smaller the manufacturing process, the more transistors will be present in the same area. Remember the speech we made when we talked about gods GaN loaders? The speech is the same: more transistors mean more power. The distance between transistors also means that the shorter this is, the less energy will be consumed. Ergo, energy saving.

But back to the bomb, Xiaomi, Oppo e live they will be the first companies to buy this new processor from MediaTek. It could easily be a Dimensions, considering how powerful the 1200 is (on par with Snapdragon 865). Very easily it will not be a Helio, which is normally adopted by gaming phones but of the mid-range.

With this move MediaTek would become one of the key suppliers when it comes to buying 5G compatible processors. The American giant Qualcomm has long been the main rival of the Taiwanese giant and this could lead to big problems for the United States.
