MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and 1100 are official: features and differences

MediaTek today unveiled two very important high-end processors that will attempt (at least one) to compete with the already outdated Snapdragon 865. These two processors have the task of eliminating the competition by offering very high performance in the medium-high range of smartphones. The new smartphone chipsets Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 5G are based on process a 6 nm. They include a 5G modem integrated with the 5G technology UltraSave by MediaTek. They support every generation of connectivity from 2G to 5G. These SoCs really don't miss anything so let's not get lost in chatting and let's see what the real ones are differences of one with the other.

Differences between MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100: what changes between the two?

Let's talk first about the things in common between the two processors MediaTek. First of all they are both built with a TSMC process to 6nm, therefore energy saving is assured. What not of poco account considering the reputation of the Taiwanese company. As for the GPU, both are equipped with an ARM G77 MC9 but the performances of one and the other SoC are different, we will see them later.

Things in common

Conference proceedings: Both models support one memory UFS 3.1 2-lane, therefore one of the fastest we can find on the market. As for the RAM we have a 4MHz LPDDR2133X.

Cameras: both processors can support three cameras, whose secondary and tertiary sensors can reach respectively 32 and 16 megapixesL. There is a substantial difference regarding the main sensor but we see it later.

Video: Maximum resolution supported 4K is 60 fps and a 10-bit color depth. This is for both the encoding and decoding parts.

Display: The maximum supported display resolution is QHD + with a refresh rate of 90Hz. A bit disappointing (even if justified) considering that this year's top of the range will easily reach 120Hz

Connectivity : All processors support Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 5G standalone and non-standalone and Sub-6 2CC waves

Differences

CPU: the CPU of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 consists of a 1 x Cortex A78 at 3.0 GHz + 3 x Cortex A78 at 2.6 GHz and 4 x Cortex A55 at 2.0 GHz. Unlike the Dimensity 1100 has 4 x Cortex A78 at 2.6 Ghz + 4 x Cortex A55 at 2.0 Ghz

Cameras: as anticipated, only the Dimensity 1200 supports a sensor with maximum capacity 200 megapixel, the other stops "only" at 108 megapixels

Display: with the QHD + resolution we said that both stop at 90Hz but scaling it to FHD + we have 168Hz refresh rate for the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and “only” 144Hz for the other model
