Today the well-known Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station shared the AnTuTu score of the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 8000 chipset. The screenshot shows us a score of 820230 points.
MediaTek Dimensity 8000 caught on AnTuTu: much more powerful than expected!
Typically Snapdragon 888-powered smartphones fall between 750.000 and 880.000 points, depending on RAM, storage, and other factors. So MediaTek's future chip will be quite competitive.
As we learned earlier, the Dimensity 8000 is a 5nm chip and comparable to last year's Snapdragon. According to the leakster, the chip will feature four Cortex-A78 (2,75 GHz) and four A55 cores, as well as a new Mali-G510 GPU.
The leakster suggests that the Dimensity 8000 aims to outperform the older Snapdragon 870 (7 nm, 735.000-700.000 points). While the competitor of the Snapdragon 888 will be the Dimensity 8100 (coming in March), which will offer higher clock speeds. Finally, to go up against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 we have the Dimensity 9000.
As for the Mali-G510's new GPU architecture, it has previously been advertised that it will be twice as fast and 22% more energy efficient than "older models". It's not entirely clear which old GPU this is referring to, but the 315.000 score is quite impressive. For comparison, the new Adreno 660 in the Snapdragon 888 and 888+ has scores between 300.000 and 325.000, the GPU in the old 870 chip has a score of around 250.000 points.
