For better or for worse, everyone knows MediaTek, a manufacturer of smartphone chipsets, which has recently experienced ups and downs precisely for its processors due to "altered" results in the various benchmarks but also for having proposed the new Dimensity series oriented to 5G connectivity in low cost version. But if in much of the globe MediaTek is often seen in a bad way in Latin America it is really appreciated, according to the quarterly report drawn up by IDC which highlights how the company has achieved a market share of 32% in the period. For comparison, in the same period last year, the company held 18,34% of the market share in Latin America.
In Brazil, a market in which the company equips a wide range of entry-level and intermediate phones, MediaTek has gone from 11,09% - recorded in the first half of 2019 - to 32,7% in the same period of 2020. So far , in the country, the company is in second place in the ranking.
MediaTek is a leader in the CPU market in Latin America
In addition to Brazil, the company has also experienced strong growth in other countries in the region, such as Mexico, Argentina and Chile. In these countries, Taiwanese are already leading the market. In Mexico, the company went from around 18,65 to around 30%. In Argentina, the jump was from 23,29% to 44,21%, while in the Chilean market there was an increase from 9,95% to 27,5%.
The growth and achievement of leadership in Latin America show that MediaTek is on track, offering a complete portfolio of 4G chips, with products that integrate cutting-edge technology, with high reliability and quality. And with the new 5G chipsets on the way we are sure to dominate the market.
