MediaTek announces Pentonic 2000 for 8K smart TVs

MediaTek announces several new products this week including new chipsets Pentonic 2000 for smart TV. These SoCs support innovative image processing technologies in 4K and even 8K devices. These are processors that are proposed as alternatives to the higher-priced Qualcomms. Recall that the TV market, however, is mostly in the hands of MediaTek. The new MediaTek Pentonic 2000 processors are the first in the world to have the technology DolbyVisionIQ, which improves image contrast even in areas that are too dark or too bright. Technology Precision Detailinstead, it improves the definition of very high resolution images. There is also technology MediaTek Intelligent View, which created in collaboration with Dolby allows you to process multiple Dolby Vision streams simultaneously. In practice, this means that we can see various content with this technology on a single screen with all these improvements.

The MediaTek Pentonic 2000 series is also the world's first TSMC 7nm litho processor for smart TVs. They also include support for voice assistants with up to 4 built-in microphones and 4 turned on simultaneously for improved voice reception and noise reduction.

The new processors also have gamer features, such as the support for Dolby Vision at 120Hz with 4K resolution, reduced latency, variable refresh rate on newer consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The first smart TV models with the new Pentonic 2000 processors are expected to be released from second half Part 2022.
