Meta (formerly Facebook) ready with its first smartwatch and VR viewer | Photo and video

Meta is the new name of Facebook. The giant in the hands of Mark Zuckeberg has changed its name but the substance remains the same, albeit with more innovation. This does not pass only for the much talked about metaverse, but also for new products. Two of these have been at the center of attention for a few days: it is the first SmartWatch and of the first (not really the first) VR display. The first appeared in a render released by Bloomberg, the second instead appeared on video. Let's see them together.

Meta, the new name of Facebook, is still the old company from Zuckeberg which, however, wants to renew: this is the smartwatch and the VR viewer

Renamed Meta, Facebook is planning to introduce its own smartwatch, according to Bloomberg. Insiders managed to get the first image of the wearable, which for many resembles the Apple Watch, but less square. Judging from the image, Meta's (formerly Facebook) idea will be to improve Apple's smartwatch, equipping the newcomer with curved edges. Also there will be a camera positioned at the bottom of the screen and control buttons on the right side of the case.

It is not excluded that Meta's smartwatch will be equipped with another photosensor additional, which can be used for normal shooting when the device is removed from the hand. It is assumed that the body will be made in stainless steel. In addition, the smartwatch will receive a built-in modem and a cellular communication module, thanks to which it will be possible to make calls. Finally, the new product will come with a classic health tracker set.

Facebook, yesterday, not only changed its name, but also announced a new device, Project Cambria. By this name, it describes a powerful mixed reality headset with integrated cameras, high resolution and unique features not yet available in the device family Oculus.

During the announcement, Mark Zuckerberg pointed out that the company is preparing a completely new product that will take its place in the segment of flagship devices. The gadget implements eye and face tracking technology as well as algorithms that help in Live mode to recreate the real atmosphere around the user, transforming it into a virtual 3D space.

The VR headset significantly improves the quality of content viewing. Mark Zuckerberg showed an early prototype of the device in the past. A Project Cambria feature will be the constant monitoring of eye contact and monitoring of the user's facial expressions. In this Facebook is interested in integrating into its own meta platform, where participants can interact with each other in the virtual space through avatars.

The official presentation of the Meta VR viewer will take place in 2022.
