Benchmark developers AnTuTu publish not only the performance assessments of mobile devices. A recent study from the company focuses on the popularity of processors for smartphone of different brands. Furthermore, the authors of the benchmark have officially named the most common type of mobile SoC used up to this point in 2022.
Between Qualcomm and MediaTek, who has their smartphone processors among the most used in early 2022? Let's find out together thanks to AnTuTu
The number one chip OEM lead in the first quarter of 2022 was maintained by Qualcomm: its processors are installed in the 65% of all devices tested in the benchmark. The share of MediaTek it was 19%, up 6% over the same period last year. In third place was the Chinese HISILICON with 12.2%. Finally, the chips Samsung they were installed in only 1,2% of the "censored" gadgets.
Unfortunately we are not told specifically which processor models are used. However, on the nose, we can say that the Snapdragon 870 they are the most popular for medium-high range devices. As for MediaTek, on the other hand, i Dimensions 1200 and 1300 they begin to gain popularity (popularity which, in our opinion, is definitely deserved).
Another chart published by the benchmark developers is dedicated to the number of cores of mobile processors. The vast majority of modern devices (98.8%) are equipped with eight-core SoCs: all other options have fallen on obsolete devices that have not yet been discontinued.
