We have seen that what does it mean that a smartphone is Android Enterprise Recommended. This is not a certification that guarantees greater power to the device, but a certification that guarantees the adequacy of a device. There are several smartphones that Google decides to certify, between top of the range and not. Well, today is the turn of OnePlus 9 which is Certified by Android Enterprise. So let's see what changes (nothing in reality).
OnePlus 9 is “worth more” now that Google has given it the Android Enterprise Recommended certification. Let's see what the requirements are
Yesterday, Google updated its Android Enterprise website for add OnePlus 9 to its list of recommended devices. OnePlus 9 Pro isn't officially listed yet, but the OnePlus security page states that at least since July 14 is part of the program, together with the 8 series, Nord, Nord N10 5G and Nord N100. As you can see, not necessarily all the most powerful devices (such as the Nord N100 and N10) are Android Enterprise certified.
For completeness of information, let us recall something about the program. The AER program started in February 2018, but initially included few devices while at the time of this writing 339 are part of them. While this news may not be of much interest to average consumers, we felt it was worth publishing for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro owners who use their device for work purposes, as some companies (e.g. Google) may do not allow devices to join your internal network if they do not meet several requirements, one of which is the delivery of security patches within 90 days of their announcement.
