The series OnePlus 9 is the company's first smartphone series to be developed in collaboration with the famous camera manufacturer Hasselblad. The cameras of the series OnePlus 9 already offer some features already adopted by classic Hasselblad cameras. The special color calibration is a feature of this collaboration. While many of the photos taken by smartphones are often over-saturated and therefore appear unnatural, OnePlus tries to keep the images particularly realistic with the Hasselblad partnership.
A new update brings another feature of a classic Hasselblad camera, the XPan mode. With XPan mode you can make recordings with two different focal lengths of 30mm and 45mm. This allows OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro users to take panoramic photos from the unique perspective of the classic XPan camera. The photos taken have a ratio of 65:24, just like in the original Hasselblad camera.
In addition, the images recorded in XPan mode are cropped by the 48 megapuxel main camera and the 50 megapixel ultra wide angle camera. This means that the image offers a resolution of 7552 x 2798 at 30mm and 7872 x 2916 at 45mm focal length.
In addition to the selection to change the focal length, it is possible also adjust the ISO sensitivity in the viewfinder and activate a black and white mode. Also, when you release the shutter, the captured photo is initially displayed as negative film, which unfolds into an image and is then saved in the gallery.
Both color mode and black and white mode are optimized in collaboration with Hasselblad. The black and white mode in particular is intended to help storytelling from a different perspective, such as portraits, architecture or street photography. Hsiaohua Cheng, Head of Imaging at OnePlus, says:
