OnePlus does it again: the Google Camera is castrated on OxygenOS 12

It was January this year when we talked about OnePlus and its ability to "castrate" the photographic sensors that used the Google Camera. This decision, not shared by users, especially by virtue of the collaboration with Hasselblad starting with series 9, it is not at all clear. However, it should be noted that it was taken from the moment both Pete Lau's company and Oppo were starting to get married. But having said that, let's see what's going on.

OnePlus is doing it again as at the beginning of the year: it limits the sensors that the Google Camera mods can access in OxygenOS 12. Why?

In accordance to reported by celsoazevedo, well-known developer and bearer of the Google Camera OnePlus ports it will prevent Google Camera mods from accessing auxiliary cameras on its smartphones. What the developer clearly states is that the auxiliary cameras (ultrawide, macro, or non-primary telephoto lens) are no longer accessible outside of OnePlus' camera app. Basically if we use the Google Camera, we will not be able to use these sensors if we had installed Android 12 and OxygenOS 12.

oneplus blocks secondary sensors with google camera

This "novelty" is added to the others that arrive with Android 12 and OxygenOS 12. More than news I would say trouble, since the update to the new version of the operating system brought more problems what else, so much so that the company has decided to pick up the update for OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.

As we mentioned earlier, this restriction also applies to Oppo smartphones with ColorOS. This could mean that the modification is intentional.
