OnePlus North 2 is undoubtedly an interesting smartphone. Indeed, in my humble opinion this is the best mid-range of 2021. With the choice of the company to enter the mid-range market with a straight leg, we have witnessed the birth of device import anti. But not all that glitters is gold. We have news of a bad one vulnerability which has affected the North 2. This is a software “defect” that could also be attributed to MediaTek. Let's see the details.
OnePlus Nord 2: the vulnerability that allows malicious people to root scares everyone. Here are the details of the problem
OnePlus Nord 2 is the victim of a new vulnerability that would allow an attacker to get super admin root access in a few minutes. The defect would also affect the Pac-Man themed version. Basically a user who is not an administrator could get super administrator permissions.
According to the discovery of a member of the forum XDA Developers, although OnePlus does not allow a patch update via upload restore ADB (something that would protect against intruders) the North 2 would not work as it should. One of the critical bug fix settings would be finished in production versions, which would have led to the creation of a debug path on Android by anyone with administrator privileges.
Basically, the steps would start OnePlus Nord 2 in its own mode di restoration; connect the device to a PC via USB cable; open the terminal; type the command "Adb devices" and delete the existing RSA ADB database. When the ADB server restarts, you will be able to assign root permissions.
A spokesperson for OnePlus spoke about the case and assured that the society prioritizes safety and will release an update for the OnePlus Nord 2 as soon as there are more details on the error. He also stated:
We take privacy and security very seriously. We will prioritize this and share the update as soon as we receive more information
Although it is a flaw of concern, it is important to emphasize that its exploitation depends on the possession of North 2 with the attacker. In other words, until you have an update with the fix, the suggestion is keep North 2 away from strangers.
