The Oppo 30W Wireless VOOC Flash Charge technology would be ready for debut

In January of last year, the Chinese smartphone maker, Oppo, joined the Wireless Power Consortium. This led many people to believe that Oppo would soon launch a smartphone with wireless charging support, but to date we have no trace of it.

Oppo 30W Wireless VOOC Flash Charge would be ready for debut

The brand has not yet launched any device with support for wireless charging; although in 2019 it showed its 30W wireless VOOC flash charging technology. Oppo had also specified that its wireless charging used "real-time regulation of the charging process and charging components to ensure a more efficient and safer charging avoiding overheating". In addition, in order to improve safety, Oppo has also taken several measures such as HVDC and a foreign object detection function to ensure that charging stops immediately if a foreign metal object is detected.

The Oppo 30W Wireless VOOC Flash Charge was then implemented only in the smartphone prototype with under-display camera seen at a fair a few months ago. We therefore expected the brand to adopt the new technology on the Find X2, But this did not happen.

According to Edward Tian, the charging technology engineer at Oppo, recently said that 30W wireless charging was technically ready for launch. He also added that the technology can coexist with 2.0W SuperVOOC 65 charging on the Find X2; so there were no technical limits that prevented the company from adding technology to the Find X2 series. Unfortunately, Oppo didn't reveal exactly why the technology wasn't included in the Find X2 series. With the most common motivation that is always "it is not really necessary when the smartphone recharges already so quickly with the 2.0W SuperVOOC 65 recharge".

VOOC

In any case, even if OPPO has not included the 30W wireless VOOC flash charging technology on any of its devices, we could still see it in the next OnePlus 8. For the uninitiated, OnePlus is a brand of BBK Electronics, just like OPPO. In fact, OnePlus's Dash / Warp Charge technology is derived from OPPO's VOOC.

Until now, OnePlus has never included support for wireless charging, and the company has long claimed that wireless charging isn't fast enough for its taste. But with 30W of power, the new wireless charging technology could be as fast as OnePlus's Warp Charge 30. Furthermore, it is interesting to note that OnePlus has recently joined the Wireless Power Consortium and there are credible rumors suggesting that the OnePlus 8 may support wireless charging.
