We had already given you some anticipation on the new mid-range of OPPO, the A8 and A91 models and finally the company made the well-deserved presentation to the vast audience of the brand's loyal ones. Oppo A91 is a medium range smartphone, which focuses entirely on the latest generation multimedia and hardware sector. In China OPPO A91 was launched at an attractive price of 1999 yuan, equal to about 257 euros at the current exchange rate, but let's find out better in detail.
OPPO A91 - Specifications and features
OPPO A91 offers a glass backcover in three colors (midnight blue, red and light blue) that wraps around a 6,4-inch AMOLED display with a drop notch, covered with a fifth generation Corning Gorilla Glass. The resolution is equal to 1080 x 2440 pixels, or FullHD +, capable of offering bright colors and deep blacks. There is also the TÜV Rheinland certification for eye protection, while the display ratio of the OPPO A91 is 90,7% with a form factor of 20: 9. The thickness of the phone is only 7,9 mm for a weight of 172 grams.
Moving on to the flab, on the OPPO home terminal we find a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset which is flanked by 8 GB of RAM, while the GB is not missing for the storage of files and applications that on OPPO A91 are well 128, expandable up to 256 GB via micro SD. Operating system entrusted to Android 9 Pie based on ColorOS 6.1 while for a better gaming experience, the Game Boost 2.0 functionality is provided at the software level.
One of the strengths of this device is the battery, a 4000 mAh unit to which VOOC 3.0 fast charging is combined. The company claims that the phone only takes 30 minutes to get 50 percent of the battery charge. For a better gaming experience, the phone also comes with Game Boost 2.0.
On the photographic level we find a 16 MP selfie camera while on the rear there are 4 sensors housed that are made up of a 48 MP main lens, one dedicated to data collection for the 2 MP bokeh effect, a third used for 2 MP macro photos and an 8 MP lens for 119 degree ultrawide (wide angle) photos. The OPPO A91 cameras are able to capture stabilized videos, professional photos even at night while at the software level we find an AI video repair function, which improves the video during recording. For best bokeh shots, OPPO A91 offers users HDR portrait mode by enhancing the backlight when taking selfies.
Finally OPPO A91 is equipped with Dual SIM connectivity, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C and 3,5 mm audio jack, as well as a third generation fingerprint sensor positioned under the display, which guarantees faster unlocking + 12,5% compared to the previous generation with an improvement in recognition and therefore unlocking of + 4,3% (only 0,32 seconds for unlocking).
OPPO A91 - Price and release date
The OPPO A91 was presented in China with a price of 1999 Yuan (around € 257). Red, light blue and midnight blue are the three color options available. Chinese users interested in purchasing can now register on the official website of the Asian brand to win the first units, while the official sale has been set for December 26th. For the international market at the moment it is not possible to know if and when it will be marketed.
