Oppo makes you a 3D avatar: here's how

Almost all major smartphone manufacturers have their own analog of Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), Memoji, which allows you to create a virtual avatar. Oppo decided to go even further by introducing a technology for scanning a person. This allows you to create a 3D avatar who dances and does many other things "in our place". Let's go and see how it's done and how it got there.

With the new Digital Avatar Lab technology, Oppo transforms us in a few seconds into a 3D avatar starting only from our body composition

The Eurobursar Oppo Digital Avatar Lab is behind the development of new technology. The video below shows how several Find X5 Pro smartphones are shooting a person at the same time from different sides. Based on the data received, it comes generated a three-dimensional virtual model. The company believes this gives people access to more opportunities in the digital world than ever. Let's think about creating a much more complex avatar within the Metaverse. OnePlus has already done this.

The virtual avatar has a kind of skeleton that allows it to move. In her example, Oppo showed how the girl's scanned model accurately repeated the ballerina's movements. To do this, the system monitors a number of critical points on the human body. Interestingly, in the video, the dress also reacts to all movements.

At the moment, however, it seems that the technology seems unfinished: the quality of the virtual avatar and the animation of its movements leave (still) a lot to be desired. Furthermore, it is unclear whether all of this can be repeated using any smartphone, shooting a person from different angles, so that normal mid-range Oppo owners can use the technology.
