On March 6, Oppo released the new Find X2 and Find the X2 Pro. Two smartphones that adopt top-of-the-range specifications and accompanied by a truly modern design.
Oppo Find X2 and Find X2 Pro: The brand responds to the controversy over the weight of the devices
Now, although the hardware itself is quality, Chinese users did not like to find out that the data published on the official website regarding the weight of the device did not correspond to the real ones. Specifically, all the various versions of smartphones would be from 5 to 13 grams heavier than those listed by Oppo.
A controversy then arose, with several users asking for explanations of the brand and accusing him of misleading marketing. Vice-President Brian Shen promptly responded to this controversy on the social Weibo (the Chinese Twitter). Brian Shen apologized immediately and promised that the matter would be investigated.
A few hours later, Oppo issued an official declaration in which he admits that the real data are different from those on the site and that unsatisfactory users can be reimbursed.
The weight difference problem stems from an OPPO error that was based on pre-production samples. When in fact some changes were made in the following period, resulting in weight gain.
So for example we have the glass version of the Find X2 which has increased from 187 grams to 192 grams, the ceramic version has increased from 196 grams to 209 grams, while that has increased by 9 grams. The same goes for the Find X2 Pro in ceramic version which sees a weight increase of 10 grams.
In any case, OPPO has stated that all the data on the official website have been corrected and that all the other sales sites will also be updated. Those who purchased one of the smartphones before the weight correction will be able to return the device and receive a full refund.
