Last December we filed a patent for you Oppo which showed an interesting concept. It was a very particular expandable smartphone, which recalled the collaboration with Tom Ford, well-known internationally renowned designer. One thing badly said and this was the result: accusation of violation of intellectual property. That's right, apparently the things said by LetsGoDigital they weren't quite the truth and the team themselves found themselves embroiled in an uncomfortable situation. In fact, he had to bring all the documentation referring to the patent they discovered to justice. Let's see in detail what happened.
Oppo was sued by Tom Ford, a well-known internationally renowned designer, due to a patent that LetsGoDigital showed us last year
In the publication of LestGoDigital it has been speculated that this smartphone could be introduced as a concept phone. Just like the slide phone concept "Oppo “, Introduced last December by the Chinese brand in collaboration with the Japanese designer Nendo. However, trouble has happened. At the beginning of January 2021, Tom Ford International LLC has filed a complaint with LetsGoDigital and ordered to take all the photographic material relating to the patent offline because there would have been an illegal use of the registered trademark.
In fact, a company spokesperson told di not to know this smartphone in any way and / or a possible collaboration between the American fashion brand Tom Ford and the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo. After various ups and downs it turned out that not even the brand was aware of this patent which bore the name of the designer. Clearly, based on the responses the Netherlands issue received from the Chinese giant, there is none no willingness to produce and launch such a device. But it sounds very strange that the patent with the name Tom Ford has sprung up on a portal like the CNIPA.
The Chinese company said there will be investigations, although it seems clear that it is a gross error.
