Oppo makes the first 5G data call in spectrum sharing

The future is now increasingly oriented towards the new 5G mobile data transmission technology, although many are very doubtful about the quality of the service, the advantage that such connectivity can bring in certain areas, such as the medical sector, is indisputable. The first tests and the possibility of feeling the 5G with your hand have also started in Italy, but it is from Switzerland that a further sign of development arrives.

Thanks to the partnership between OPPO, Ericsson, Qualcomm, Swisscom and Telstra, the first data transmission was made using Dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) technology. In particular, it was possible to connect the Swiss town of Bern with the Gold Coast in Australia, taking advantage of the commercial networks of Swisscom and Telstra, all combined with Ericsson's Spectrum Sharing technology (ESS) using spectrum sharing with a band 3Gpp Frequency Division Duplex and of course an OPPO 5G smartphone which was moved by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 Modem-RF System. Everything took place on November 29th.

I know, I am sending you in confusion with all these acronyms and names and I admit that I am too. DSS technology allows operators to take advantage of existing 4G and 5G frequency spectra and networks, at least so explains OPPO that is trying to implement 5G development globally to offer a new large-scale mobile standard. For the occasion of the test carried out in Switzerland, Andy Wu, Vice President and President of Software Engineering Business Unit of OPPO, in a press release states:

This is the first success for the Oppo Ericsson 5G Joint Lab. Oppo works proactively to accelerate the large-scale commercialization of 5G Our collaboration with Ericsson, Qualcomm, Swisscom and Telstra to facilitate the commercial use of Dynamic spectrum sharing technology is part of our deep commitment in the 5G era. Oppo plans to launch 5G smartphones that support DSS in the next year, so as to ensure a more stable, continuous and faster 5G connection, to offer a better user experience "

Of course the next step will be to expand the coverage, to bring the actual advantages and benefits of the new 5G connectivity, because on the other hand it is not enough to have smartphones ready if you do not have the infrastructure: it is a bit like having the saddle but not the horse. . What do you think of it?
