Oppo surprised everyone by releasing somewhat "anonymously" a new version of the Reno 3 presented in December 2019 together with the Reno 3 Pro. The new device is called Oppo Reno 3 Vitality Edition and at least on paper it seems closer to the Pro version than the basic one; let's find out more.

Oppo Reno3 Vitality Edition

Let's start with the main difference between Reno 3 and Reno 3 Vitality Edition: the processor on board. The new device in fact adopts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765, a substantial change of course compared to the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L on board the Reno 3 and much more similar to the Reno 3 Pro with the Snapdragon 765G. The CPU is then coupled with a maximum of 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and not 12GB; while the maximum internal memory remains unchanged at 128GB (UFS 2.1 type).

Another change is then found in the photographic sector, with the Vitality Edition which replaces the 64MP sensor of the basic version with a 48MP sensor. Again approaching the Pro version of the device. The main camera is then assisted by an 8MP secondary sensor with ultra wide angle lens, a 2MP black & white sensor for portraits and a 2MP "back" sensor for portraits.

As for the other specifications, the smartphone adopts a 6,4-inch diagonal screen with drop notch, an aspect ratio of 20: 9 and Full HD + resolution. While the general dimensions include a thickness of 7,96mm and a weight of 180 grams.

The Reno 3 Vitality Edition is powered by a 4025mAh battery and there is support for fast charging VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge to recharge it from 0 to 50% in just 20 minutes. There is support for 5G connectivity, especially the dual mode NSA and SA. In addition to Link Boost 2.0 technology developed independently by OPPO, which not only supports dual Wi-Fi acceleration, but also supports dual channel SLA 2.0 5G + Wi-Fi, which doubles the speed of the network.

From the performance point of view, however, the Hyper Boost technology always developed by OPPO, can monitor the operating status of the GPU in real time, shorten the response times of the touch and provide targeted acceleration solutions for 53 games.

The Oppo Reno 3 Vitality Edition will be available in Moonlight Black, Sky Mirror White and Streamer Gold colors. While the launch price will be 2999 Yuan, or about 399 euros at the current exchange rate. It will be possible to buy the new smartphone in China starting from February 14th.
