After several days of leaks and advances, the new OPPO Reno 5 series has just been officially presented in China. As expected, the series includes three smartphones, the OPPO Reno 5, the Reno 5 Pro and the Reno 5 Pro +. Let's go find out more!

Let's start with the new design called Galaxy with Reno Glow 2.0 star diamond technology for 35% more brilliance than the previous generation and different color changes depending on the angle.
In addition, the OPPO Reno 5 series has also added a luminous material on the lens and top, which causes a little light to be emitted at night as if it were a firefly, making the smartphone even more unique.
Thanks to this design, the OPPO series has managed to bring very bright and thin devices. The Reno 5 has a thickness of only 7,9 mm, while the Reno5 Pro has a thickness of 7,6 mm and weighs only 173 grams. In terms of colors, the Reno 5 series has four options: Starry Night, Aurora Blue, Moonlight Black and Star Wish Red (New Year Edition).
Going to the specs, the Reno5 features a 6,43-inch screen with a hole for the front camera, a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sample rate of 180Hz. While the Reno 5 Pro features a 6,55 inches, curved perforated screen, again 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz sampling rate.
For fingerprint recognition, the Reno 5 series supports optical fingerprint recognition technology under the screen, with the optical sensor manufactured by the Goodix brand, providing a smooth unlocking experience.
While for photos, the Reno5 series adopts a 32 megapixel lens on the front with support for video features such as super anti-shake, AI rejuvenating video beauty and AI video enhancement.
In the back we find instead four cameras including the main 64 megapixel, 8MP ultra wide angle, one for capturing depth data from 2 MP and a 2 MP macro. Here too we have the super anti-shake features, AI beauty, AI video enhancement and more.
The Reno5 series also supports OPPO's unique FDF full-dimensional portrait video technology. In particular, there are two engines for perception and image quality improvement, which are respectively optimized for the subject and the overall image when shooting portraits. This technology brings more beautiful images with a special focus on the subject of the video, for an effect very similar to that of professional cameras with much more expensive lenses. The technology works for both videos and photos.

From a performance standpoint, the Reno 5 uses the Snapdragon 765G processor, while the Reno 5 Pro adopts the performant MediaTek Dimensity 1000+, with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
In terms of battery, the Reno 5 integrates a 4300 mAh battery and the Reno 5 Pro a 4350 mAh battery, both of which support 65W super flash charging.
The operating system that we find on the Reno 5 series is ColorOS 11.1, based on Android 10, so there is support for optimization technologies such as Hyper Boost 4.0.
Also, as far as gamers are concerned, the Reno 5 Pro supports "lightning-fast start", which means it will take 10 seconds for the game to load. We will then have a "five-dimensional super-sensory gaming experience" thanks to OPPO-exclusive optimizations in the pre-game, during and after-game phases.
Finally, for the prices, we have the Reno5 8 GB + 128 GB at a price of 2699 yuan (340 €) and the 12 GB + 256 GB version at 2999 yuan (380 €).
The Reno5 Pro 8 GB + 128 GB is priced at 3399 yuan (430 €), while the 12 GB + 256 GB variant costs 3799 yuan (480 €).
OPPO also presented the Reno 5 Pro New Year Edition 8 GB + 128 GB at a price of 3399 yuan (430 €) and the OPPO Reno 5 Pro + of which it mentioned some specifications such as the Snapdragon 865 processor and 65W charging, with the price that will be revealed on December 24th.
