The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has just made the new flagship official for the last half of 2019, we are talking about the Oppo Reno Ace, together with a really interesting accessory, the C1 Gamepad Unicorn. Let's discover them together!

Oppo Reno Ace and Gamepad C1 Unicorn presented, also arriving in Europe?

As just mentioned, the Oppo Reno Ace presented today is a real flagship. The smartphone is in fact equipped with the modern and performing Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus as a processor, accompanied by up to 12GB of RAM and a maximum of 256GB of internal memory of the UFS 3.0 type (therefore the fastest currently on the market).

Externally we find instead a large 6,5-inch diagonal AMOLED display, Full HD + resolution, underlying fingerprint sensor and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 coating. But the most interesting feature concerning the display is perhaps the refresh rate. The Reno Ace equips a panel that supports 90Hz. So we will have a smoother experience while browsing the UI and in specific apps.

The Oppo Reno Ace doesn't even joke about photography. The smartphone comes with four rear cameras. Specifically, we have a 48MP main sensor, paired with a 13MP secondary camera with a telephoto lens and 5x hybrid zoom, a third 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP Black & White lens. While in the front notch we find a 16MP camera for high resolution selfies.

The Oppo flagship then equips a large 4000mAh battery with support for fast charging SuperVOOC Flash Charge with 65W of power. This will allow us to recharge the smartphone from 0 to 100% in just 30 minutes. Other features include: dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, USB-C and a 3.5mm audio jack. Finally, the smartphone runs on Android 6,1-based ColorOS 10.

The Oppo Reno Ace was launched in China in Psychedelic Purple and Starry Blue colors for the price of:

  • € 400 for 8 GB RAM + 128 GB internal memory
  • € 430 for 8 GB RAM + 256 GB internal memory
  • € 490 for 12 GB RAM + 256 GB internal memory

Oppo C1 Unicorn Gamepad for Reno Ace

Let's now pass to the C1 Unicorn Gamepad for Oppo Reno Ace which is also presented today and on the Gundam theme (hence the name "Unicorn").

The gamepad uses Bluetooth 5.0 technology to connect to the smartphone and has a joystick positioned at the top left. We then have four circular buttons and two buttons on the shoulders. The accessory has a retractable design and is able to accommodate smartphones with a length between 110 and 160 mm.

Oppo's C1 Gamepad Unicorn also has a rear cover that avoids possible scratches on the back of the smartphone. While inside we find a built-in 4D linear vibration motor that will provide an immersive gaming experience with exceptional tactile feedback.

At launch, the gamepad will only be compatible with the Oppo Reno Ace, but the company promises compatibility with other Oppo devices in the future. But the most surprising thing is that it will be immediately compatible with iOS 10 or later, so iPhone owners will be able to use it before other users with Android smartphones (and not Oppo).

Finally, thanks to the quick charge that we also find in the gamepad (obviously not the same at 65W), the C1 Gamepad can be recharged 5 minutes to have up to 3 hours of play. While to fully recharge the integrated battery it will take about 3 hours for 40 hours of use.

The Oppo C1 Unicorn Gamepad will go on sale in China starting from 11 November at the price of 300 Yuan, or about 38 euros at the current exchange rate.

[UPDATE]

Both the Oppo Reno Ace and the C1 Unicorn Gamepad could be presented in Europe and the UK in the coming weeks. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has in fact registered the trademarks for the two devices on our continent.
