OPPO Reno4 Pro: The "small" battery is tested, the results are excellent

The long-awaited Oppo Reno4 Pro was officially released earlier this month. The smartphone surprised us above all for the thickness of only 7,6 mm and a weight of 172 g, therefore a very thin and light design that made us think we had gone back two or three years.

However, the thin and light body of the Reno4 Pro means that the battery capacity is less (4000mAh), which should affect autonomy. But is it really so? Well a Chinese site has tested it for us and these are the results.

Let's start by specifying that this is a 5 hour battery life test. The smartphone is charged to 100% and at the same time the brightness is locked to 50% (by deactivating the automatic brightness). At the same time, volume goes to 50%, the WiFi network is used for everything the screen refresh rate is blocked at 90Hz.

So, the test starts with 1 hour of video playback, 1 hour of tiktok use, 1 hour of play on Peace Elite (activate the maximum image quality), 1 hour of play on Ace Warrior (activate the maximum image quality ) and 1 hour on the Chinese social network Weibo. For a smartphone with a battery capacity of 4000mAh, the OPPO Reno4 Pro can be said to have completed this 5 hour test perfectly with remarkable final results.

After watching 1080P + video for an hour, the Reno4 Pro consumed only 6% of the battery, with a 94% residual. So it seems that the smartphone's power consumption isn't too big when watching videos.

After using tiktok for an hour, the remaining battery is 84%, i.e. 10% is consumed, slightly more energy consumption than watching the video.

The next step was to play Peace Elite for an hour. The remaining battery is 68% with a consumption of 16%. While the game Ace Warrior also consumes 16% of the battery in an hour and leaves a remaining 52%. Finally, going to the Weibo social network for one hour consumes 12% of the bacteria and leaves us at 40%.

After finishing this test, the team decided to compare the Reno4 Pro with another smartphone having a battery capacity of 4200 mAh. Again, a 5-hour battery life test started.

The result was obvious. Without the support of many battery life optimization technologies available on the Reno4 Pro, the battery life performance of this second smartphone was not enough.

In this case, after 1 hour of 1080P + the smartphone 13% of the battery, with a residual of 87%. After using tiktok for one hour, the remaining battery is 77%, i.e. 10% is consumed. After playing Peace Elite for one hour, the remaining battery is 59% with a consumption of 18%. The Ace Warrior game consumed 17% of the battery in one hour and leaves a remaining 42%. Finally, 12% of the battery was spent on social Weibo for an hour, leaving us at 30% at the end of the test.

In conclusion, OPPO seems to have perfectly optimized the energy consumption on the device. So much to beat smartphones with larger batteries. If we add to this that the support for SuperVOOC 2 charging at 65W, well I would say that we do not have to worry about the autonomy of the device.

We quickly remember that the OPPO Reno4 Pro arrives with a 6,5-inch AMOLED screen, with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a resolution of 2400 × 1080. This is also powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, 8GB or 12 GB RAM memory and 128GB or 256GB storage space. The cameras include one 32MP front, and three 48MP rear for the main, 12MP for ultra wide angle and 13MP for the one with 3x telephoto zoom.
