Oppo focuses on MediaTek: two new smartphones with SoC Helio on Geekbench

As we are seeing in recent times, the trend of the largest OEMs is to rely more and more on MediaTek. But why? The reasons can be many but we find the key in two basically: lower price and diversification. It is well known that the processors of the Taiwanese giant are less expensive than those of the US counterpart Qualcomm; moreover, the smartphone market does not have many devices with MediaTek processor, at least not the top of the range. Oppo however it is not new to this kind of collaboration with MediaTek and decides to focus again on this processor manufacturer: two new smartphones with SoC of the Helio series have been found on the platform Geekbench.

Oppo focuses on MediaTek: two new smartphones with SoC Helio on Geekbench

Let's make it clear what it is Geekbench 4.2, the previous version 5.0. In any case, two new Oppo devices with MediaTek processor appeared on the well-known benchmark portal a week ago. The scores aren't bad either and the chip seems to be one Helio P60.

These tables summarize some of the data relating to the two devices. Both tested on December 9 last year, they present well 8 GB of RAM

(to suggest a good hardware sector) and both are moved by the operating system Android 9. The base frequency of the processor it does not reach 2 GHz but let's see how the name of the cip sounds familiar. ARM MT6771C / CT turns out to be the "code name" of the processor MediaTek Helio P60, the same present on Oppo F9.

The SoC of the Taiwanese company presents four Cortex-A73 cores plus another block from four Cortex-A53 cores. Without a doubt this is not a processor that we could find on a high-end smartphone since it tends to compare it to the mid range Snapdragon 636. We doubt that this benchmark is dedicated to the F9 and therefore we firmly believe that two new smartphones are coming.
