Official Oppo Watch 2: dual processor and dual operating system

After having seen the first images and having stolen the very first information about Oppo Watch 2, here is that the company launches it in China. The second smartwatch of the Chinese giant, which we remember it is also preparing its own processor, is official and aims at dethrone Apple Watch. It is in fact a wearable device of undoubted quality, with very promising specifications. At first glance, the new Oppo Watch 2 isn't much different from last year's model, but this only applies to the appearance. Let's see the full specifications.

In the second generation, the manufacturer focused on hardware and software improvements, equipping the device with a core much better. Oppo Watch 2 is available in two dimensions:

  • 42 mm with a 1.75 "screen and a resolution of 430 x 372 pixels
  • 46 mm with a 1.91 ″ screen with a resolution of 476 x 402 pixels

Both variants use a AMOLED display curved sideways with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The clock is equipped with two processors that act in sync: a powerful one Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 it's a Apollo 4s energy efficient. Thanks to this, two skins can work normally: ColorOS for Watch (Android 8.1) or RTOS extension. In the first case the battery life reaches 4 days for the 46mm model, and when you switch to RTOS you can count up to 16 days no need to top up.

By the way, the watch supports the VOOC flash fast charging, which provides a working day in 10 minutes of charging. Oppo Watch 2 features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS and even NFC for contactless payments. It also supports 24/24 heart rate monitoring and blood oxygen monitoring (SpO2). An interesting option is the eSports modeWhen activated, all notifications from your smartphone are sent to the watch and special reminders are also displayed in some games. 

You can also connect the watch to a blood glucose meter to monitor blood glucose levels. The version smaller of the watch is only available with Bluetooth and eSIM + Bluetooth, while the model from 46 mm comes exclusively with eSIM + Bluetooth. It supports 4G and, thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker, you can answer incoming calls without using a smartphone.

Prices and availability

In China, the start of Oppo Watch 2 sales is scheduled for August 6th. The basic 42mm version with Bluetooth costs around € 250, while the eSIM version costs € 300. The 46 mm version with eSIM costs 350 € (all prices are converted from the Chinese yuan and not real).
