Pterodon Recovery is the project that wants to dethrone TWRP

Who hangs out Android smartphones will certainly have heard at least once mention the words Recovery, or the Messiah in the modding field, which allows us to install the best Custom ROMs on our mobile phone, a custom kernel, root the device and hundreds of other fantastic things that would require a Treccani encyclopedia just to list them.

Among the most famous and used Recovery we find the one developed by the TWRP team, but did you know that there are also others in circulation and that among these there is one in particular that wants to rival its head with the TWRP?

But let's take a step back because it should be specified that the recovery argument has practically existed since the birth of the first version of Android, in which the ClockWorkMod or CWM reigned supreme, the first recovery to allow the flash of Custom ROM, kernel, backup, system restore and run ADB commands.

Then came TWRP which became famous for touch support, a function that was later adopted also by CWM, but by now it was too late because by that time the freak people had embraced the graces of TWRP and for CWM it was the decline.

Pterodon Recovery is the project that wants to dethrone TWRP

However in this 2020 the battle reopens with the challenger Pterodon Recovery, created by ATG Droid, the same developer who hides behind the RedWolf project. This new Androdi recovery environment focuses on an improved graphical interface (GUI), based on the famous installer AROMA, which at the time allowed to customize the installation of the Custom ROM on your smartphone, selecting the features to your liking.

But Pterodon Recovery is not limited to a sexier graphic look but offers a series of diagnostic tools that TWRP does not have, which will help us solve and above all recognize the possible problem affecting our device. And if you are still not convinced, I add that Pterodon Recovery integrates some decidedly curious functions such as the status bar that adapts to your smartphone, based on the presence of the notch or not, but also supports D2TS (tap 2 times to turn off the screen) and you can also adapt the display backlight in the recovery environment.

Pterodon Recovery

Unfortunately, the project is still in its infancy and therefore poco suitable for daily modding and especially for the less accustomed in the sector, as it is still unstable, but nevertheless the source code is available to all developers who want to give their contribution. In particular, the preliminary versions of the project are already ready and working on the famous Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 6 Pro from Xiaomi.

An undoubtedly interesting project that deserves to be kept under control and who knows if history will repeat itself and will we witness the decline of TWRP? Well, only time will give us answers that we will not delay in telling you.
