Qualcomm is also boycotting the Russian market

The crisis between Russia and Ukraine will not only lead to a increased chip costs, but also to the withdrawal of some companies from the market. Google, for its part, has prevented from buying paid applications from the Play Store. But now let's talk about Qualcomm, one of the largest chip suppliers (not just for smartphones) in the world. According to what we learn from Twitter, the US giant has also decided to "Withdraw" from the Russian market. Let's see the details.

The crisis between Russia and Ukraine also affects tech companies and Qualcomm is no exception. Here is the official statement of the brand

American chip maker Qualcomm officially announced yesterday that it has stopped selling its products to Russian companies. The reason is the sanctions imposed by the world community in response to the war unleashed by Russia on the territory of Ukraine.

The statement was released by Qualcomm's senior vice president Newton Tibbits, commenting on Twitter about the office of the vice president of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov. The Ukrainian official called on the chip maker to join the boycott and stop supplying its products to Russia. According to him, Qualcomm products are still available on the Russian market and in this way the company "inadvertently allows this country to kill thousands of Ukrainians".

For his part, Newton Tibbits claimed that Qualcomm has called for a peaceful solution to the Russian aggression in Ukraine, made direct donations to charities that help Ukrainians. She further assured that respect sanctions and US laws and does not sell products to Russian companies.

Earlier this month, at a Qualcomm shareholder meeting, it was stated that the revenue of the company resulting from work in Ukraine and Russia they are less than 1% of total revenue, so the company's exit from the Russian market won't be that painful after all.
