Qualcomm introduces the SIM integrated into the processor

Qualcomm, along with Vodafone and Thales, showed a working smartphone with one card name integrated. Unlike an eSIM (electronic SIM card) which acts as a separate chip, this new technology allows you to integrate the SIM functionality directly into the processor. Alex Fromant-Kertil, Commercial Director of Vodafone, said:

Our goal is to create a world where all devices connect seamlessly and very easily with full user control. This will allow our customers to easily use multiple accounts on one gadget and, at the same time, operators will no longer have to issue separate SIM cards, which will lead to a reduction in plastic waste.

According to the companies, Qualcomm's iSIM represents the next stage of technological development after eSIM. In fact, this offers a series of advantages for consumers and telecommunications operators. This opens up opportunities for incorporate mobile services into a wide variety of technologies, including laptops, tablets, virtual reality platforms, IoT devices, wearable gadgets, and more.
