In an interview released to the Decoder podcast of The Verge, Qualcomm's Brazilian CEO, Christian amon, confirmed that the brand's next flagship processor should be called Snapdragon 8 Gen2 succeeding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, announced late last year. Although this is an intended move, since the brand has renamed the range of processors in the latest version, not everything should remain as it is.

Unlike the previous generation, the new generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips will be produced by TSMC instead of Samsung and will follow the 4nm process. Amon also explained the reason for the recent name change: "We are simplifying the branding". According to him, it is easier for the consumer who appreciates the specifics of the smartphone wondering if the model has the new generation or not of the 8 Snapdragon.

In addition to talking about the new model, the CEO also talked about Qualcomm's investments in research, including the 6G, and the chip crisis in the market. According to him, gods 50.000 employees of the company, the absolute majority are engineers and a large part of the profits obtained from the sale come invested in research and development. Not having its own production line, working with large suppliers such as TSMC, Samsung, Global Foundries, SMIC and UMC, Qualcomm also indirectly invests in these factories.

Speaking of the crisis, Amon claims that Qualcomm has a lot of stocks and that the situation relating to the shortage that has plagued the market in recent times should improve.
