Qualcomm reveals which processors will support the new Wear OS

Not so many days ago, Wear OS has merged with Tizen to give life to… Wear. The new 3.0 edition wearables platform debuted during the Google I/O and many companies immediately moved to make users aware of which smartwatches would support the firmware. Today Qualcomm has decided to reveal which processors will fully support the new “operating system” for smartwatches. Let's see them together.

Qualcomm names the models, or rather the processors, which will officially support Wear OS in its 3.0 version: Snapdragon Wear 3100 and Snapdragon Wear 4100/4100 +

The US company Qualcomm named the chip models, the devices based on which will support the new version of the operating system Wear 3.0. Apparently, users interested in software updates for their wearable electronic devices will have little choice. In an interview with reporters, representatives of the chip maker said that the mobile platforms Snapdragon Wear 3100 and Snapdragon Wear 4100/4100 +, designed specifically for wearable devices, are “capable of supporting” the new firmware. However, the company refused to share any technical details.

With Wear OS 3.0, smartwatches should have an updated user interface, as well as new apps, health, fitness, and more. The same Google has not clarified yet if the firmware will be compatible with the smartwatches already released or whether it will become exclusive to the new models. Not even the smartwatch manufacturers have released such statements: the only exception was Fossil, which said its devices will not be updated to the latest version of Wear OS.
