Realme Band: first unboxing and hot impressions

Perhaps arrived late compared to direct competitors, but the new Realme band seems to have all the credentials to go to step on the feet of sacred monsters like Xiaomi's Mi Band 4 and Honor Band 5 and perhaps we must think of this wearable as an input for Realme to propose new wearable solutions during this 2020. On the other hand also Xiaomi has started its adventure in this sector, starting with a simple Mi Band, focusing everything on the economy of the product.

Realme Band: first unboxing and hot impressions

So let's start discovering something more than this Realme Band, arrived after a launch event that took place yesterday. The company claims that Realme Band is the cheapest fitness tracker on the market to be equipped with an excellent sensor for detecting heart rate. So let's start with a small Unboxing provided by Indian colleagues who have had the pleasure of getting their hands on the small wearable of the Chinese house.

Package Contents

  • Realme Band (3 colors available, including black, yellow and military green);
  • User manual and quick guide.

Realme Band offers a 0,96-inch color LCD display with a resolution of 160 x 80 pixels, having a rectangular shape. The screen is not of the touch type but uses a small virtual button, which allows you to interface with the band's menus. The connection is made via a Bluetooth 4.2 module compatible with any smartphone, while at least Android 5.0+ is required to use the companion Realme Link app.

On the back of the Realme Band we find the PPG heart rate sensor, with automatic H24 or manual measurement via a dedicated setting in the app. From the first impressions the heart rate monitor was quite precise and accurate.

As for battery life, Realme Band relies on a 90 mAh unit that should guarantee 6 to 9 days of use (9 days without automatic heart rate function enabled; 6 days with heart rate function enabled). Definitely few if compared to the rest of the fitness trackers around. To recharge, the strap completely made of soft silicone and plastic must be removed in the part of the closure, anchored to the capsule, which integrates a USB-A male interface allowing connection to a power bank, PC or any charger in circulation.

Other features of Realme Band concern monitoring sports fashions, as many as 9 including Cricket and Yoga, 3-axis accelerometer, sleep monitoring, call and message notification and IP68 water and dust resistance. My humble opinion: a band that brings nothing revolutionary and different to many solutions already on the market. In addition, the price of 1499 INR, equal to about € 17,80, is not always so cheap in reference to other fitness bands. We really hope this was just a small experiment by Realme to offer decidedly more complete and interesting wearables during the year. And what do you think of it?
