realme: € 600 smartphone, plans for Europe and update policy

There is no doubt that realme is among the most flourishing companies in the panorama of international OEMs. There growth of this company is not even comparable to that of Xiaomi which, in the space of 10 years, has become the third largest brand in the world. In less than 5 years, however, the giant born in China and exported to India, has seen staggering figures both in terms of growth and revenues. The CEO for India and Europe recently answered interesting questions about the politics in our country in a 'interview with Android Authority (via Gizchina). Let's go see what he unveiled.

realme answers the questions of the Android Authority and reveals the future of the company: flagship smartphones, updates and plans for our market

The strong point of realme it is certainly the offer. How Xiaomi can count on a boundless catalog (as opposed to OnePlus, for example) inside which there are devices from 100 to 500 €. But what are the future prospects? There are scheduled even more expensive flagships? Madhav Sheth, CEO of realme India and Europe replies as follows:

"Not this year, in 2021. But yes, during this year you will see $ 600/700 smartphones."

But what does this mean? In a nutshell it provides a price increase for the brand's smartphones starting this year or presumably from the next. The top of the range at least, will cost more according to what we have learned.

And compared to the updates? How will the company behave in the future? We know that Android 11 struggles to make it to European devices and this is a difficult gap to fill. Competitors such as OnePlus and Xiaomi already have many models already updated to the latest Android 11 version (waiting for the arrival of Android 12). In this regard, the CEO confirms that the smartphones will receive two years of Android updates and three of security patches. In short, the standard, but knowing it is heartening.

Plans for Europe

When asked what realme's plans were for Europe, the CEO replied:

"Our main goal is certainly to popularize 5G in every single price segment. And be in the top five or top three in many markets. Selling 10 to 12 million units in Europe, this is our ambition."

Without a doubt the aims for expansion it is at the order of the company's policies, but what worries users most is the support that their smartphones will receive. Unfortunately, there is no answer to this as Android Authority has not provided information. The executive also suggested that both Realme Race Pro and X9 Pro flagships could arrive in Europe, giving users a choice between the two high-end phones.
