Realme X2 Pro reviewed on DxOMark, excellent audio for its range

Announced last fall by Oppo's sub-brand, the Realme X2 Pro manages to pack flagship hardware at a relatively cheap price. Specifically, we find a Super AMOLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ as a processor. There are also some interesting audio specifications, such as Dolby Atmos certified speakers and dedicated amplifiers for each speaker.

Realme X2 Pro reviewed on DxOMark

Given its excellent audio qualities, at least on paper, the Realme X2 Pro was therefore sent to the famous photo ranking site, DxOMark, which recently also specialized in reviews of the audio sector.

Let's start with the final score which is 58 points. This score is then divided into 59 points for audio reproduction and 55 for recording quality. According to DxOMark, the X2 Pro performed very well for the price range, with a score higher than that of two previously reviewed smartphones, the Honor 20 Pro and the Sony Xperia 1. Having said that, we are not yet at the level of Samsung flagships with the Galaxy S10 + and the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.

Let's go now to see the pros and cons, both for playback and for audio recording.

Playback

Pro:

  • Decent overall performance during playback;
  • Clear, medium and high precise;
  • Great volume performance;
  • Good bass precision at maximum volume;
  • Performance is particularly good with audio from video games.

Cons

  • General lack of bass compromises its balance;
  • Spatial rendering is small and limited in size;
  • High aggressive and mid range resonant at maximum volume.

Registration

Pro

  • Decent overall recording performance;
  • Plosive sounds are precise and help provide accurate sound;
  • Good spatial rendering thanks to the excellent reproduction of the mids.

Cons

  • Audio is almost always oriented to the right, compromising directivity and amplitude;
  • Obvious lack of bass, especially in our electronic concert recording test;
  • The high frequency resonances make the background sound muffled and unrealistic;
  • Obvious artifacts, such as distortion and peaks in high volume recordings.
