Realme X50: first specs on the specifications and Youth Edition variant

Following the news that reported the registration of the new trademark for the European region, we announced to you how Realme intends to launch its first smartphone with 5G connection support, i.e. the Realme X50. Realme's CMO Xu Qi Chase he also explained the reason for this name by analyzing the acronym that makes it up. The new device that will soon see the light is placed, together with the other smartphones of the brand with the X in the name, in the highest range of its production. But if at the beginning of the week we only talked about 5G, the time has come to talk about the technical. We learn about the specifications of this device, and its Youth version, from the Chinese insieder 差 评 帝 who posted the technical data sheets on his Weibo profile.

Realme X50: first specs on the specifications and Youth variant

Below is the post in question, where the Chinese leaker shows us in super preview what we will find inside the two Realme 5G smartphones.

realme x50 specifications

In a similar way to last time, where he announced the characteristics that we will probably find on Oppo Reno 3 (and brothers), shows us how the models of Realme X50 will be two: one standard which we can evaluate as the top of the range and one Youth which we can consider a Lite version of the first.

Specifications Realme X50 and X50 Youth Edition

Processor

As the name suggests, it will be one Snapdragon 735 to be mounted under the body of the standard version, since it is one of those processors with integrated the X50 modem for 5G. This chip will be announced in a few days from Qualcomm and therefore we are not told how it will be composed: on the day of the presentation we expect some clues about the devices that will bring it. As for the Youth Edition instead we will find a processor MediaTek 6885. Here we would like to analyze a fact: it is increasingly common for Chinese brands to create two similar smartphones but with different processors, as in this case. The history of MediaTek teaches us that it has not enjoyed much popularity but the fact that OEMs are trying to put it back on the market can be a alarm bell for Qualcomm. In any case, both processors will guarantee excellent performance.

Display and photographic sector

Contrary to what is expected, the standard version will have a slightly smaller display than the Youth Edition. In fact, while the former will have a diagonal of 6.44 " the second will have one from 6.55 ": the difference is really minimal. But both will have one Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) even if it will change the supplier of the screen and the refresh rate: the manufacturers will be respectively Samsung and JDI (Japan Display Inc.) and while for the first we will find an update frequency a 90 Hz, on the second we will have that a 60 Hz. No wonder now that the top of the range implement a display with a higher refresh rate.

As for the photographic sector, the rear composition is the same: we find one quad camera in both Realme but if in the first there is a main sensor from 60 megapixel Sony IMX686, in the Youth Edition we have one from 64MP Samsung GW1. The remaining three cameras will be 8 + 2 + 2 megapixel. This difference may seem strange but it is not at all: if the name of the second terminal is really that, it is clear how it is aimed at a younger audience and more attentive to the quality of the photographs. On the front the game is reversed: a double camera for the first 32 + 2 megapixel and a single from 32 megapixels per second.

Battery

For the standard version we will have a large 4500 mAh battery while for the younger version a 5000 mAh battery. Charging technology on both  VOOC Flash Charge 4.0, which allows you to fill a battery from 4000 mAh at 67% in 30 minutes and 100% in 73 minutes, 12% faster than the previous generation. Strange that the SuperVOOC Flash Charge 2.0 is not present on the first device ... but since it is speculation, the story may change.

RAM memory and internal storage

To finish the rundown on the specifications of the Realme X50 we find one RAM type UFS 2.1 on both smartphones, but the internal equipment of memory and storage will change. The standard version includes three formats: 6GB 128GB, 8GB 128GB e 8GB 256GB. For the less performing version we have only two formats: 6GB 64GB e 8GB 128GB. To conclude, the price: at the current exchange rate, the three configurations of the standard edition are given at € 258, € 283 and € 322, while the two configurations of the Youth Edition are given at € 206 and € 232. Prices really not bad considering the 5G connection.
