Lo smartphone today it has replaced everything: the calculator, the MP3 player, the camera and many other products. But will he be replaced in the future? If we consider that the Fudan University of Shanghai has developed one scarf so tech able to take its place, then the future is already here. This isn't the first time we've heard of hybrid products that manage to do the job of other devices. Think of Sony which has developed one t-shirt with built-in conditioner. But today we are going to analyze a discovery that is truly incredible.
In China they "invented" a scarf that can act as a smartphone: the intertwining of the threads create bright dots similar to pixels
Chinese engineers have developed a new generation of fabric. From this they created a scarf that can display text messages, allow you to navigate as if we were using a GPS and see notifications of various kinds. According to the engineers of the Fudan University of Shanghai, such development will be useful for people with disability, as well as for those who, for whatever reason, cannot or do not want to communicate with others. The fabric displays text information and typing can be done using electronic gadgets.
This new product will undoubtedly go to replace all those gadgets equipped with a display, primarily the smartphone. But it is precisely the interface between the scarf and this mobile device that is interesting. In fact, the user is reportedly given the option of write on your device and make the text appear directly on the scarf. But how does it work in a nutshell?
Without diving into technicalities, Chinese scholars have managed to weave cotton threads with a very particular material that allows it to light up if subjected to an electromagnetic input. Even some experiments have shown that brain waves are able to activate the lights that are placed on the weft of the scarf. These mini led, if we can call them that, they are positioned right where the yarn goes to intertwine with this bright material.
This is not the first development in the direction of digital fabrics, but other technologies do not allow the passage of air or they do not keep the desired shape. In fact, the presence of the mini lights leads to overheating that could not be dissipated if a breathable material like that of a scarf.
