Smartwatches declare independence: TicMotion is a "unique" feature

We continue the “Smartwatches Declare Independence” series that we began by explaining the importance of a dedicated app store, this time focusing on the “fitness” side of these wearable devices.

So let's see what makes TicWatch smartwatches independent during our favorite sports activities.

TicWatch TicMotion

Let's start with the three main factors to take into account when talking about a sports smartwatch:

  • It must eliminate the need for a smartphone. Nobody wants to run with the extra weight or distraction that the device brings.
  • It must be easy to view the various info such as heart rate, calories burned, etc.
  • It must automatically understand when you start a training session and report the various data collected immediately afterwards.

Do not take your smartphone with you - 01

Many of you have probably trained in the past with a smartphone. Even on the first Android devices it was possible to install an application to count steps or other fitness apps. However, these were not very precise and in most cases they did not recognize any sport.

Fitness applications were therefore used more to share one's progress online than for real use of data to achieve improvement.

Also, walking around with a smartphone has never been comfortable and with the passage of time, the increase in size and weight, these devices have increasingly become a bad option.

So the smartwatch is now the only real alternative to be able to keep track of your progress achieved during our training sessions.

An independent training tool - 02

If smartphones lose the attributes that make it a companion for sports, this means that the smartwatch becomes more independent.

Since fitness apps are not really part of the social world, the main reason why many of us use a smartphone and there is also no need to read the messages received while we train, smartwatches are now the only choice. sensible as a training partner.

As if that weren't enough, today's smartwatches are equipped with hardware that even some smartphones do not have, such as the gyroscope, various accelerometers, GPS and much more.

All these sensors greatly increase the accuracy of the collected data. Added to these is the fact that having the wearable on the wrist, we can also check the heart rate and calculate the number of steps much more accurately.

GPS (available on many TicWatches) is probably one of the most important modules to have on a smartwatch. Thanks to it we can in fact go and see the route just traveled with very high precision.

This is because the TicWatch wearables are compatible with both GPS and GLONASS and Baidu for a three-satellite navigation system. So even in cities with large buildings you will be able to view your route. All without needing a smartphone.

Besides being independent it is also “unique” - 03

Being autonomous and not needing to be connected to a smartphone is not the only feature that makes a TicWatch interesting or unique.

TicWatch has in fact worked hard on the development of "TicMotion", which is a feature that groups together several very complex algorithms to facilitate its use in sports.

The TicMotion system is integrated on every TicWatch in the new version of the fitness app. The operation is quite simple, for example if we are out and about, take a bus and then get on a bike, the smartwatch will start to wonder what we are doing.

After a short time he will be able to understand that we are pedaling and will automatically activate the “cycling” sport mode. We will then have an account of the time, distance traveled, calories burned and heart rate during the journey.

Note that to make the algorithm work correctly you must not take your hands off the handlebar and obviously you must not start the sport mode manually. In fact, the “Auto Sport Mode” is used.

This feature also works with other sports like running, swimming and more. Just start doing the activity and TicMotion will recognize it immediately afterwards.

Another positive note of TicMotion and TicWatch smartwatches in general is that at no time are notifications sent that could distract you. The smartwatch will record the various data that you can then go to view on the app.

Now tell us yours. Have you got to use TicMotion? If so, what do you think? Let us know in the comments section below!
