Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will be the real name of Snapdragon 898. The US giant has decided to change the name, or rather brand, to its processors. The substance does not change, only the form. Indeed, if we talk about substance we will be pleasantly surprised that the SoC in question has exceeded the first tests on AnTuTu the archenemy MediaTek Dimensity 9000. But what's amazing? Not that Qualcomm has surpassed MediaTek, but that MediaTek cushioned the blow in an excellent way!
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, known to most as Snapdragon 898, surpassed even MediaTek Dimensity 9000 on AnTuTu. Here are the amazing numbers!
Exactly one week from now, Qualcomm will unveil its new high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. However, we already have the performance result of a smartphone based on it in AnTuTu. According to the benchmark, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will still be the performance leader, but this time the gap between Qualcomm's flagship SoC and MediaTek's is minimum.
Recall that the promising smartphone alive on Dimensity 9000 scored 1.002.220 points on AnTuTu. Today, however, the CEO of Motorola has published the results of the benchmark tests on a Moto smartphone, probably the Moto Edge X. Let's talk about 1.035.020 points. Therefore, Qualcomm maintains the status quo and the Dimensity 9000 is slightly lower.
The similarity of the results can be easily explained by the similarity of the characteristics of both platforms. There are no particular differences in terms of CPU, only the GPU differs: Adreno 730 in the case of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Mali-G710 MC10 in MediaTek Dimensity 9000. Qualcomm's graphics solutions have always been more powerful, so this result is quite natural and one can think that Snapdragon's increase of about 33.000 points is thanks to the graphics core.
Recall that the official premiere of Qualcommm SoC will take place on 1th December and even the first smartphones will appear in December. These will be Xiaomi 12 and Moto edge x. But there is an interesting rumor that in December not two, but four flagships on SoC Gen 1 could debut in December.
