The first real tests Qualcomm's new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Apparently, the main emphasis in this platform has been placed precisely on the enhancement of the graphics subsystem, thanks to which Android smartphones will finally be able to compete on equal terms with iPhones.
Ubergizmo compared a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 reference smartphone created by Qualcomm for developers. It is indicated that such devices usually do not offer the maximum possible performance, but in general they allow you to estimate how manufacturers' devices will perform on average.
According to the results of Geekbench 5, the new Snapdragon in single and multi-core mode is about 12% faster than the Snapdragon 888. Qualcomm itself claims a increase in 20% performance, which could prove to be real given the use of an advanced cooling system and optimal optimization.
Graphical tests look much more interesting. In GFX Bench Manhattan 3.1, the new Qualcomm processor provided a frame rate much higher than the Snapdragon 888 and even the Apple A15 Bionic from the iPhone 13 series. The increase compared to the previous generation reaches about 70%.
The screenshots above also clearly show that the processor, in terms of graphics performance, it is not inferior to the A15 Bionic and in some cases even surpasses Apple's solution.
