After official secondment of Honor from Huawei, which in November 2020 had sold its then subsidiary to Zhixin New Information Technology Co. Ltd, many were wondering what would happen to all those “older” smartphones in terms of software support. If in fact the new Honor devices have had access to Google Mobile Services and other American supplies, the older terminals will instead continue to receive the software support from Huawei. Honor and Huawei: a relationship that will not break completely
Honor's executives themselves communicated this decision: the old phones of the Chinese brand will continue to receive standard software and security updates from Huawei throughout their life cycle. Here is the list of suitable devices.
Monthly Security Updates:
- Honor 20, 20 Pro, View 20;
Quarterly Security Updates:
- Honor 30, 30 Pro +, 30i, 30s, View 30 Pro;
- Honor 20e, 20i, 20s, 20 Lite;
- Honor 10i, 10X Lite,
- Honor 9A, 9DO, 9S, 9S 10X, 9X Lite, 9X Pro;
- Honor 8A, 8S, 8A Pro.
At the moment, however, it is not yet known whether the smartphones in question will be updated to HarmonyOS 2. We will see if official communications to that effect arrive.
