Popular belief or not, using your smartphone before bed is considered harmful for the health of our sleep. But will it really be like this? What does science say about it? A group of researchers from Buffalo they conducted research very important on the effects of using the smartphone before going to milk and the consequent causes. THE results are quite curious. Let's see them together.
We tell ourselves this very often, but we never do it: using the smartphone before bed is harmful. But will it really be like this? Scientists give us an answer
Many scientists argue that the use of any electronic device an hour before bed is symptom of poor rest and disruption of circadian rhythms. However, a new study forced a reconsideration of this theory. According to his results, not everything is that simple. The experiment has involved 58 subjects who were asked to independently report their use of various devices (including smartphones) one hour before bed each evening.
Un important role was played by the place where the media was used: in bed or in the living room. Scientists also looked into whether it was multitasking, like watching TV and texting at the same time, or just watching TV.

Test subjects were taught a use the electroencephalograph at home to get a detailed picture of sleep quality based not only on user self-assessment, but also on device performance. It turned out that using the media an hour before bed did not affect its quality. This was also confirmed by the EEG, which tracked total REM and deep sleep time. However, scientists warn that the type of device and how it is used before bedtime has a big impact.
Watching a series or listening to a podcast late at night can act as a passive calming activity which, on the contrary, will improve aspects of relaxation. At the same time, watching TV in bed increases the overall duration of sleep. However, all these advantages they disappear instantly if the use of the mass media is prolonged for long periods. The longer people use media in bed, the more negatively it affects sleep. For a positive effect, it is best to watch TV or listen to music before going to bed for a short time.
