About a week ago we reported that Vivo had applied for registration of several NEX brands, including the NEX Fold. Well, today it was revealed that the foldable device will be launched later this year.
Vivo NEX Fold: The fold with the largest screen will arrive this year
According to the well-known leakster Ice Universe in fact, the next smartphone of the NEX series will not be the NEX 5, or the successor of the NEX 3 / NEX 3 5G of 2019, but it should be the NEX Fold, the first folding device of the manufacturer. But Ice Universe isn't the only one to have confirmed that the NEX Fold is coming.
Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), also responded under the Ice Universe tweet with more details. It revealed that the device will be the largest foldable device in terms of panel size. This means that its internal display will be larger than that of the Mi MIX Fold and Huawei Mate X2, which measure 8,01 inches and 8,0 inches respectively.
Ross Young also said that the device is scheduled for January, thus contradicting what has just been stated by Ice Universe.
Knowing Ice Universe, it's still highly likely that the NEX Fold will truly be launched this year, but it's possible it won't be available for purchase until January next year. There is also the possibility that it will first launch in China this year ahead of a global launch in January, most likely at CES 2022.
